text-grab

A.k.a. "text-snatch" or "text-capture"; it refers to a nifty-thrifty "quick fingers" maneuver to permit da viewing of an online news-article for free when da page's host wants you to pay for da privilege of reading said content. You know da scenario --- ya start out to read an interesting write-up on some recent event or research-revelation, only to have da page abruptly go dark after a few seconds when you'd been "just getting into it", and then an impudent cheeky pop-up window appear dat heartlessly states, "Oops --- you need to have a paid subscription to read this article!" or, "We're pleased that you're enjoying our content. Pay $"X" amount to continue reading." But of course, clever penny-pinching little sneak dat you are, you --- unlike all of those naive 'n' clueless other 99% of da web-viewers --- know a "cheat code" for accessing da precious essay despite dat greedy company's disgusting coercive measure that attempts to extract funds outta ya... rather than resignedly "shelling out", you simply click da "back" arrow and then bring up da article-page again, but this time you hastily perform da "ctrl+a" key-tap to "select" (highlight) da entire article, then do a "ctrl+c" key-punch to store da page's words into memory. This way, even if da page goes dark again, you won't "lose" da words dat you were trying to read. You then open a blank "Notepad" (simple-text only) page, paste da stored words int it, and then smugly start reading.

Performing a text-grab is not only a great way to read "pay-to-view" articles for free, but it saves "wasted" money, as well, since nine times outta ten you probably find da content of said essays fairly mundane and unrelated to you or your life, anyway, and so you would probably have felt "let down" after paying to read said content, since you would feel dat you'd "spent good money for nothing" when none of da material was all dat interesting to you, after all.

text apologizer

The person who ends a text exchange by saying something akin to this: "I have to get back to work. Can't talk." This is instead of simply just responding to a text when you have time. This person tends to behave as though texts are the same as phone calls, during which one might have to abruptly end the call for various reasons.

So Amanda sent me a text telling me that she had some really crazy news about Raymond. I responded to her as soon as I could to ask what the news was and she immediately responded, like the text apologizer that she is, to say she couldn't talk but she'd text me later.

Oedipus Text

To expand on a previous definition: A text message a male sends his mother that is sexually explicit in nature. This text message is (usually) accidental (except in my case), (usually) meant to inquire concerning sexual activity with another person, and (usually) sent under the influence of intoxicating substances (not in my case).

In Ted Rimmel Jr's situation: A text message (actually hundreds of text messages) Ted sends his mother that is sexually explicit in nature. These text messages are always on purpose, never ever accidental. These text messages are always meant to inquire concerning sexual activity with his mother, and always sent when Ted is perfectly sober.

Ted's mom (upon receiving the very first Oedpus Texts): "These messages you sent, what is up?"
Ted: "Aaaahhh, I may have been a bit drunk and sent it to wrong person."
Ted's mom: "Nonsense. You do not drink. And besides, you have me listed as Mom on your contacts list, and to top it off, you began each message with "Mom.... or hey Mom....."
Ted: "Aaaahhh ....well...ummm...Aaaahhh."
Ted's mom: "Do not um and ah. These were clearly meant for me. Someone seeing these texts would say you are in love with me. Is that it Ted, are you in love with your mother? Because these texts clearly indicate that."
Ted: "Yes Mom it is true. All of it. The texts were clearly meant for you. I truly am in love with you, so these texts would be known as Oedipus Texts."
