band for band

A competition of seeing who has the most money, typically involving two people.

Using an agreed upon middleman, both individuals send cryptocurrency to the middleman's address while not disclosing the amount to the other person. This continues until one person taps out. The middleman sends the winner all of the money. This is mostly done by the internet fraud, scamming, and simswapper communities. Other communities such as Roblox and Discord have adopted this term while having little idea of what it actually means.

I used $150,000 when going band for band with Jack, but he beat me by $100,000. Now I'm broke.

Band for Band

Counting out who has more of a thing. Early stages of competition, or prepping for war. Each counts out there possessions for comparison (i.e, a band of hundred dollars bills), in an effort to present themselves as the would be victor and or dissuade further escalations. The count may also bring to awareness the amount of loss an escalated rivalry may cost.

He threatened you? I'll go band for band.

Band for Band

Showing off your money to compare who has more, in lieu of fighting. Early stages of competition, prepping for a war, counting out who will be the likely victor, seeing who will likely win the battle or how much it will cost each opponent, in almost a threatening manner. As if to say, after this count, it will be obvious that I can beat you.

He wronged you? I will go band for band.

Jam band

N. If a blanket excuse, issued as a shrug, was a music genre. Very similar to someone presenting an unexceptional thing as being exceptional purely upon the merit that it has been presented.

Put a jam band in a garage in a suburb on a Sunday night at 10:01, someone is gonna call the cops because “c’mon guys, enough is enough, already.” But, if you post flyers, charge admission, and make the jam band loud enough—they magically stop being a noise ordinance violation in Vermont, and start being Bonnaroo.

“Dude, have you heard the latest CD of the local jam band?”

*shrug*
