An Emo is a slang term that is enforced on someone by people who claim to be "cool". Real Emo's do not go round saying how much of an Emo they Are. There are Three types of Emo.

Type.1. Normal Emo.
some one who listens to music because they enjoy it and not because they think its cool. they also dont stop listnening to music just because the band has been "discovered". this type of emo does not go on huge shopping spree's at the most expensive stores to "buy" their look. they wear what they feal like and are comfortable to wear. they are not DEPRESSED, they are happy and normal human beings, they see the world as a wonderful place. its just inhabited by lost and depressed people.

Type2. Fag Emo.
This is the type of emo that gives Emo's a bad name. they go out and max out their daddy's credit card on the most expensive clothing, they find the most underground music. they can and dont even listen to it. they wear band t-shirt's even if they dont even know 3 songs or cant name the people in it.

Type3. Emo.
This type of Emo is The least common. this type of Emo is one who rejects society all together and refuses to talk or co-operate with anyone who isnt an emo. they stand around and "look cool" they do things deliberatly to piss of comformists. this is the sort of emo that slits their wrists just so they can show it off.

I just saw Emo kings My Chemical Romance advertise Guitar Hero on XBox Live Marketplace.. Man what a bunch of sellouts plus their music is really bland and doesn't connect with me on any emotional level at all

1• Emos don't always self harm themselves or try to commit suicide, and if they do try to convince them to stop and get help immediately.

2• Emos are not always depressed. We can sometimes be the happiest people in the world. The word emo is just short for emotional, meaning we just have super sensitive feelings.

3• They don't always wear black or have emo hair, we are just emotional and sensitive.

4•Emos usually make the best boyfriends and girlfriends because we are sweet, kind, and them being emotional means we can actually relate to how you feel.

6• We are not the same as E-girls and E-boys. E-style is just one of the many popular aesthetic styles on the internet. Emo is being sensitive or the whole punk rocker genre.

It's a word commonly misunderstood as a modern stereotype,which is used day after day again and again.

"emo" is actually referred to a specific sub-genre of punk rock known as "emotive-hardcore" which has been around since the 80’s

Emotive-Hardcore has branched off of other similar genres such as "Hardcore" and "Post-Hardcore".

Emotive-hardcore is the true meaning of the word "emo" and has been twisted to refer to something far from what originally intended. In fact, “emo” has kept its original meaning and now its new meaning causing it to become an ambiguous word. Most however just use it to make their lives less boring (haha)

However these people, although most listen to “emo” music, cannot possible be referred to as “emo” because they are not a sub-genre!

It is not only wrong to label someone as “EMO” but also degrading because of the numerous stereotypes. the most common misconseption: CUTTING. These do refer to a minority of the “Scene/HxC” society. Although scene kid’s clothing may represent a state of depression it has nothing to with being a cutter. Scene kids and cutters are two separate types of persons.

-Remember that if everyone were the same, it would be a pretty boring, bland, and monotone world. The need to be different is necessary in order for one to express their inner feelings and thoughts, as well as share common interests with others.
