Manson effect

A phrase which refers to the ability of a song to seed or otherwise compel sociopathic behavior in an individual, through that individuals unique comprehension of the song's deeper and specific meaning.
The name is derivied from Charles Manson, whose apocalyptic cult-based racial serial killing was self proclaimed a result of the biblical message communicated through The Beetles' "Revolution 9."
Brain Warner, whose psuedonym is dervived from Charles Manson, claims a deep interest in the case; interestingly enough, Warner's own music-in conjunction with that of Jessicka Fodera's Jack Off Jill-was blasted as an inspiration for the Columbine Killings on April 10th, 1999. If true, this would indicate that the Manson effect is transitive, although the underlying motives for the sociopathic behavior are not.

The press highlighted the musical preferences of the serial killer, hinting at a possible Manson effect.

The Liverpool Effect

A curious phenomenon, most commonly exhibited by supporters of Liverpool Football Club, where an individual is completely unable to see the wood from the trees as far as making sensible, unbiased judgements about their football team’s performances is concerned.

The whole world could see that Liverpool were vastly inadequate but the supporters felt robbed and went to bed dreaming of past European victories and 1990s league wins.

The Sierra Effect

The Sierra effect can only stay true for "crystalline". For she and only she possesses the power of the Sierra effect, taking different forms of a phoenix, a unicorn and a mermaid. Her aura, her being and her very soul is defined by this phenomenon. For she is the Sierra effect. For she is the one and only 'Shreya Kulkarni'.

The Boho angel saved my soul by casting upon me her very blissful enrgy, merely called 'the Sierra effect'

The effect of losing the ability to spell after following a grammatically incorrect comment made by a friend. Therefore succumbing to the residual illiteracy that surrounds them.

Cassandra Effect

Cassandra was a daughter of the Trojan king Priam. She was given the gift of prophecy by Apollo, but when she cheated him, he turned this into a curse by causing her prophecies, though true, to be disbelieved.

In Data Science, analysis can produce models and outputs that show what drives an effect but that does not mean management will do anything about it, or do the right thing about it, so the prophecy happens anyway.

Analyst: The model shows that customers who have a 10GB data allowance and do not use it up tend to leave us and go to competitors who offer smaller, cheaper packages. We recommend, offering them smaller packages or carrying their data over.

Manager: I am the manager here, you don't tell me what to do, look at my awesome hair!

CEO: We keep losing the customers, the analyst's models are useless!

Analyst: damned Cassandra Effect!
