originally, it was a cable channel with cool music and music guru's called "veejays."

NOW, it is a teen demographic channel by reinforcing typical teen steriotypes (I.E. emo, gansta, so on.) If i had to bet on it, i'd say MTV has contributed directly to the teen pregancy rate. It features shows as "teen mom" (SEIRIOUSLY? YOURE GONNA MAKE A SHOW ABOUT PREGNANT TEENS?!?!) all commercails are either from Cell ringtones featuring old songs or "designer clothing" outlets, how often does this channel play MUSIC? once a week. saturday mornings. NOT teen prime time. it makes me sad about the state of today's teenagers.

VH1 is much better then MTV, it has music 24/7.

the only worse channel is TLC, which is a 24-hour network of " say yes to the dress"

a once great television station that was based off of the ideals of "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" but now has become an overcommercialized boyband haven with little to no actual music being played, ironically

VH1 good channel, although "Fabulous Life" and "All Access" are annoying.

{metaphorical noun} Anything very 'cool' when it is first introduced but turns into total rubbish after a period of 20 years (240 months).

Those people that created 'Pogs' sure did pull an MTV.

a sucessfull Viacom advertising channel, whose target audience is mooks and midriffs.

Disney pays Viacom to overplay their artists on MTV and place them on TRL, to create demand and sell albulms.
And it has been very lucrative for both companies.

A place for preps and wannabes to find all the bands that will make them seem "cool" They say they're nonconformists in order to fit in- conform. It almost makes you want to laugh, but severely pisses you off as well.
