nerd

Somebody who acts in a way that makes no sense to you.

In modern U.S.-originated global culture, the term is mostly used by jocks to refer to brainiacs, but in mid-Twentieth century Britain, a nerd was more usually someone who acted foolishly or recklessly, without considering the consequences, or was simply clumsy.

Consider: A student sits in the library studying hard for an important exam tommorrow. Her fun-loving soon-to-be burger flipper classmate lounges about on the grass outside soaking up some rays. Each looks through the window at the other and declares "What a nerd!"

Nerd can be used as an affectionate put-down among friends, usually indicating foolishness, or as a calculated insult, where it's meaning is somewhere between loser and geek.

What a total nerd! You wouldn't catch me doing that!

Nerd

nerds like to believe that, because they don't have any friends and prefer to spend their weekends sat infront of a computer screen 'socialising' on internet message boards with other like-minded losers, they are in fact 'unique non-conformists'

sadly, they're deluding themselves

see also: geek, outcast, loser

nerd: donnie darko rocks. I can totally relate to the main character, I'm just like him.

nerd

Someone who enjoys sedentary persuits, for example he or she will not play football but will enjoy playing computer football. The nerd will have a high general knowledge due to the sheer amount of time he or she wastes watching television or perusing the internet and talking to other nerds. A nerd often confuses this general knowledge with intelligence, and therefore feels that they are superior to people with social skills. A nerd often listens to music with little or no rythm, such as goth or the smiths (great band though they were thanks to Johnny Marr), especially if the music contains self pitying lyrics.

Nerds often play internet computer games, and refer to people who are not as good as them as 'noobs'. This is particularly popular insult amongst nerds for non-nerds.

It is ironic as most of them are virgins, so are in fact 'noobs' in the real world.

Nerd

I am the definition of a Nerd: Let me explain...

As a person...I like to read....it is one of my favourite passtimes because I am an overratedgaypandaface ie...a Nerd.

I wear anything...it doesnt matter what it looks like...for example, today I wore a red sweater with a blue skirt and old granny shoes...this makes me suitable for the library club where all my best 40- 80 year old friends hang out.

I CONSTANTLY rip the movie version of the book because it's not dead on exact like man...and that is an insult to the author who poured their blood and sweat and tears and blah blah blah blahblah blah... (ten minutes later) and that's my reasoning.

Badass scumbag smoking a joint: That girl looks like she is wearing my grans clothes man! What a Nerd!

Badass scumbag popping some pills: I totally know...why is she carrying so many books around?

Badass scumbag making out with some chick: Yea man what's she talking about random movies for?
