Just another label that people conform to for either their own personal enjoyment or to be oh-so-cool. I don't know why people just can't be themselves without a slew of labels, but whatever rows your boat.
People who strive to be gothic by acting dark and dressing in black and pissing and moaning about life and how much of an outcast they are are assholes and should be shot. Repeatedly.
If you are another of those sad gothic wannabes bitching about conformists, maybe you should think about all the contradictions spewing out of your mouth as you ARE CONFORMING TO A LABEL.
For the goths who are goths for their personal enjoyment... I never liked labels and never will but cheers.

1.)Goths are people that normall yearn to be different, but by all being different, they become their own "culture" which keeps them from being different. People that are not "goth" tend to think that goths are creepy, weird, evil, satanic, or just plain dumb or strange. Well...no, theyre not. i may not be a goth, but they are just people. that happen to be dressed differently than other people. 2.)The word comes from a tribe that invaded a part of the Roman Empire, but just as the Romans, fell when the Huns attacked/invaded.

there is no defintion for this because, every person is different, 1 "goth" might be depressed, another "goth" might be happy, happy goth they are all different. Goths arent bad people. so all u people who think they are stupid-ass morbid highschool dropouts they arent.
your math teacher could/was goth, who knows, probably wasnt tho ^_^

A follower/fan of music that was different/older/barbaric compared to others. There is really no specific type, as pop can also be included. There is also not necessarily much else in common, as with any other group. A "goth" can be anyone, assuming they enjoy the music described.
Misuse has also applied the term to metalheads, industrial fans, and the "suicidal" yuppie children. The bands currently labeled incorrectly as gothic include Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, and most nu-metal, or industrial-metal hybrids.
Joy Division were gothic compared to the rest of the music scene.

Goth is just a sterotype. In real terms a goth is just an ancient Roman person who lived long long ago. but it has developed so much since then...like...um...well let's see...many people see goths as homo's or queers who want attention but many goth WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!!!! STOP THE DAMN sterotyping it sucks. but ne ways just leave others alone and maybe u won't get hurt
