Getting its name from the saying "Everything's bigger in Texas," a Texas Mile is an exercise involving a track and bleachers. For the exercise, you run four laps around the track, but for one of the straightaways, you have to do stadiums on the bleachers while crossing over to the next set of steps after every ascent and descent until you reach the end of the bleachers. Also, you must sprint the other straightaway. You can jog at your own pace on the ends of the track. This exercise can be done at most high school football fields.
Person 1: Wow. That Texas Mile was tough.
Person 2: The stadiums and the sprinting made it really hard.
When your ride doesn't show up and you (and your amigos, if any) have to run to your destination. The more people, the better. Typically, wearing sombreros makes running a Mexican Mile more fun, thus giving it the name.
Our ride bailed out on us so we had to run a Mexican Mile to get to the party.

Make up most of the major east-west roads of Detroit's northern suburbs. The miles are measured going north from the intersection of Woodward & Michigan in Detroit. They include the infamous 8 Mile Road, the dividing line between Detroit's generally wealthy suburbs and more impoverished inner city. The mile roads are numbered up to 37.

A large, 4+lane semi-highway which runs east-to-west in southeastern Michigan. It is physically the dividing line between Detroit and Warren (in relation to Eminem's movie), as well as a number of other suburbs.
On its easternmost part, 8-Mile road runs through very wealthy areas. A few miles west, you will find the Eastland Center Mall, which is very nice, but almost completely Afro-Centric (lots of stores selling rap clothing, etc.). It's all downhill from there -- it gets better once you hit Southfield, though.
Nobody can doubt that it is a racial divide. Warren, for the most part, is almost completely white, while the Detroit side is predominantly black.
8-Mile is not cool. It's actually sleazy and boring. There's lots of strip clubs and crummy convenience stores, as well as check cashing and furniture rental places.
Warren is not entirely lower-class. Rather, it is a city with many income divides. Basically, the higher the mile number (ie. 10-Mile Road), the better the area. By 12 Mile, it's completely Middle Class, and most of 10-11 Mile is too, with the exception of a few pockets of starter homes and some apartment complexes known for their drug problems.
Once you cross 8 Mile, certain parts of the city look like war zones.
