Short definiton:
A 2D side-scroller game that came before Minecraft and yet is often seen as a rip-off of it. It has a bunch of different enemies to hack to bits, so there's that.

But for a more deeper definition it's a sandbox with rpg elements which you fight bosses, explore and basically do anything you want. It's compared to Minecraft because it starts with cutting trees to build a house before night and start mining for some ores, but later on. you fight bosses, do invasions and build more houses for npcs. Also there is a thing called Hard Mode which is basically the best part about the game. where battling gets 10x harder and 10x more entertaining. Go play terraria. It's freaking 10$ or £6 in the uk.
