Glam Shaming

Glam shaming takes place when one person shames another for grooming, primping or spending extra time (most often in inappropriate places) adjusting or fixing their appearance.

Damn, Tiffani! Will you please stop brushing your hair and applying lip gloss during grandpa's memorial service!

Tiffani: Shut up! Stop glam shaming me!

Scotland's Shame

Refers to sectarian bigotry and violence in Scotland between the Protestant and Roman Catholic religious sects. It is intimately associated with Glasgow's biggest football teams, Celtic and Rangers: fans committing acts of violence are often called "Scotland's shame" by the press, players and managers.

The term is also often hijacked by each team to describe the other, as each sees the other as a traitor to the country's true identity.

The term was used by Scottish post-rock band Mogwai as the title for a song, in reference to the sectarian violence.

"It is intolerable that any club, or individual, going about their lawful business in the name of sport should be subjected to this ongoing campaign of hatred and intimidation. This is Scotland's shame and it is high time Scotland addressed it." - Peter Lawwel

Victim Shaming

When the victim of an event is blamed, or partially blamed, for their own attack. Mainly used in context with rape, domestic abuse, sexual harassment and sexual assault, but can be applied to other situations. It wrongly shifts blame from the guilty party onto the victim, and therefore doesn't (or makes it more difficult to) punish the one truly at fault. The term was popularized by the SlutWalk movement, which started after a Canadian police officer advised female students to "avoid dressing like sluts" in order to avoid being victimized.

Person#1: "I know being raped is bad and all, but she was flirting with him the whole night, and wearing that low-cut shirt. What'd she expect?"

Person#2: "Dude, sex has NOTHING to do with rape. It's all about power. And even if it did, flirting and wearing a low-cut top doesn't mean she was asking to be attacked like that. So, why don't you quit the victim shaming and admit what that guy did was wrong."

Shit Shame

The shame you feel when you take a huge dump while you're alone in a public restroom, then one or more people walk into the restroom just as you're about to leave and the smell is at its worst. You're forced to hide in the stall until everyone leaves because you don't want anyone to know it was you who just made the entire restroom smell like pure evil.

Johnny: "I have to go take a dump. I'll be back."
Billy: "Okay. I'll wait."

25 minutes later...

Billy: "Dude, what took you so long??"
Johnny: "Sorry. 3 other guys came in while I was in there. The smell was so bad that I had shit shame. I couldn't show my face until everyone left."
Billy: "Oh yes. Been there. Shit shame is the worst."
