The Jim Hutton Effect

When a random famous person takes a liking to an ordinary person

Jim Hutton was an ordinary guy who the incredibly famous Freddie Mercury took a liking to in the 80s.

I felt the Jim Hutton Effect when my favorite singer started following me on Instagram!

The 3OH!3 effect

When you like something a whole lot that no one else likes or knows about, and that is a large part of its appeal.

Soon, however it takes off and everyone starts jumping on board. You're really pissed and automatically start hating it when it is referenced on TV or in movies and you see t-shirts with the logo on it in the HotTopic store window.

It is now hated by you and basically sucks and you wouldn't be seen dead listening/watching or basically enjoying it in any way.

Man, leopard print was really cool until it got hit by the 3OH!3 effect hit it. Now it's pretty lame.

the peanut butter effect

A lingering smell.

HISTORY
When one eats peanut butter the smell of peanut butter sticks with them for a extended period of time even though all evidence of the peanut butter is gone.

Often related to other items of similar consistancy. (read:feces)

Example 1:
A dog does his business outside and comes in to sit beside you. The dog smells very much like his dirty business even though his anus is completely free from 'cling-ons'. This is the peanut butter effect.

Example 2:
One is doing laundry and notes the 'peanut butter effect' on a pair of underwear. The underwear may only inhibit a foul smell or may be accompanied by 'skid-marks' after being well used.

Scooby-Doo Effect

The act of the villain telling the audience (be it in a TV show, novel or play) the crafty ins-and-outs of his or her plans, more often than not after they have been caught out or caught in the act.
More often than not this relates to the exact moment that the rest of the characters learn about what exactly has been going on.

"So that was my plan: to steal the plans for the new Multi-Storey car park from the Town Hall so it could never ever be built.
And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!"
