Merge Burgler

One who uses the merge lane as an actual, viable, legal lane of traffic, for the purpose of a) getting into a static lane of traffic far in advance of the other vehicles who have merged more promptly, or b) passing moving traffic at greater speeds than even the current 'fast lane' would allow.

Al was in the habit of only half-occupying a lane when he merged into it, leaving half his 1990 Dodge Dart hanging into the merge lane to discourage the Merge Burgler s.

Merge Weasel

A driver who ignorantly ignores all raod signs and warnings waiting until the LAST possible second to "merge" into traffic from a lane that is closed ahead. They stupidly do this in hopes of getting ahead of all traffic.

While on I-95 South, Troy and I encountered a number of merge weasels when we headed into Daytona which caused my husband to swear profusely.

Merge Monkey

A person who habitually uses the median turn-lane to illegally merge with traffic after a left turn, especially when they could have legally and safely turned into the proper traffic lane.

I was turning into the subdivision and a Merge Monkey almost killed me! I had to swerve to prevent a head-on collision!

tampa merge

This term describes the driving tactic whereby a person momentarily, and intentionally, moves their vehicle into another person's lane. This situation creates the possibility of being side-swiped, thus generally causing the threatened driver to slow down, thereby creating a gap in the traffic suitable for occupation by the offending driver.

He tried to pull a Tampa merge on me, but I refused to yield.

merge-swish

When one changes lanes on a freeway or highway without hitting any of the reflecting bumps in the middle of the road.

A merge-swish can also be applied when passing someone on a two lane road, provided you do not hit any of the reflective bumps in the middle of said road...or the oncoming traffic.

Bill Blimey: "Man, I just changed lanes three times and totally merge-swished every time. It was nothing but line!"

Tom Toppover: "That's weak sauce. You should have seen the merge-swish I pulled off last night while passing that big rig."

zipper merge

A zipper merge happens when motorists use both lanes of traffic all the way to a defined merge area, and then alternate in "zipper" fashion into the open lane. By doing it this way, both lanes are used right up until the end, which advocates like New think is a more efficient use of road space.

1st Motorist: "Zipper merging is best for slow heavy traffic. If traffic is light, early merging is fine."
2nd Motorist: "Only problem with zipper merge are the idiots who will not let you merge in front of them so they pull up tight to the car in front of them. They do this even if you try to merge early. I typically will merge at the first available open space."

Merged dimension

A metaphysical copy of our universe that overlaps our own. It has the same time-line as our one.

A merged dimension is a large contrast from a pocket dimension (please refer to the definition of pocket dimension, on Urban Dictionary.com).

At night, the ghosts wander through the streets and buildings, on Earth, in the merged dimension.
