Blafrican-American

Used only when a white person is speaking to or around a black person. Occurs when the white person begins to say "black" and quickly corrects him/herself to say "African-American"

There are certainly alot of Blafrican-Americans here, Jamal.

American Idiot

A permenant resident and/or citizen of the United States of America who through their actions and/or words demean the country by making its citizens all seem ignorant or uneducated. A US citizen who believes the American way of life is superior to all others and cannot/will not accept other languages, laws, regulations, and/or courtesies. No basic understanding of geography or international current events, or sympathy for those who do not have English as their native language.

"Oh, Mrs. So-and-so, this is my boyfriend Alex, he is visiting from Germany." (loudly and slowly as if speaking to a child or some one of a mentally inept ability) "ohh...DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?? DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? SINCE YOU ARE GERMAN, ARE YOU A NAZI?"

(you think i'm kidding, my boyfriend has been asked on numerous occasions)

General American

The linguistic style and phonetic patterns used in vocal communication native to a relatively small portion of the United States of America.

General American was considered "accentless", by most people in a nation wide study. Though technically it could be called an accent.

General American is also known as the Midwestern Standard, because it is spoken most frequently in parts of the Midwest including most of Nebraska, Iowa, parts of central Illinois, and NE sections of Kansas and Missouri. In is most common in this region but is also widespread, esp. umong the upper class.

General American could be considered the American Equivalent to the Received Pronunciation (the British accent in most Hollywood movies) in England.

Newscasters and TV stars are generally taught the General American accent because it is most widely understood in all parts of the country.

Bob, from Omaha did not understand his cousin Jeffrey from New Orleans when he spoke because he did not use the Midwestern Standard.

paper american

Someone who naturalized into the United States (i.e. green card) and was not an American at birth. This person is only American because they got the papers (i.e. citizenship) via the naturalization process and not by birth.

Look at that snobby, unappreciative Indian woman. Reaping the benefits of America yet gives no respect to her fellow citizens. She's a typical paper American.
