A certain major goal will require somebody to carve out and form themselves in different ways to prepare for it. The goal in itself will become a series of different goals leading up to the big goal.

For one to hit this goal, they have to mine around it in different ways. For one who wants to run a marathon for example, they might have to change their diet, their water intake, their coffee intake, their outfits, their endurance, how they breath, their shoes, and so much more.
