Social Media Graduation

Social media graduation has several definitions. When someone has evolved past the need for social media. This is often due to factors such as financial stability within the majority of the population. Occasionally this happens towards the end of Rumspringa as a last chance to party before going offline permanently (or at the least, no longer using social media). Social media graduation also happens due to factors of age, and having outgrown social media in some form, even if graduate decides to continue to use other social media. When social media graduation happens, online & offline celebrations are common, often happening at the same time. Strictly offline celebrations are common as well. This sort of event can cause paradoxical feelings of intense joy, sadness, loss of friendships, and strengthening of existing ones. It can be as important to some people as a high school, college or university graduation, depending on their background & culture.

Synonymous terms include, but are not limited to: Social networking graduation, insert website and / or app here graduation, internet graduation, social media retirement. This is not that same as quitting social media out of frustration, or a social media break.

example 1: the young man's social media graduation party before returning to The Amish Community was a welcome one. All of his new friends had a chance to say proper goodbyes, and plans to visit him & his community were made.

Example 2: Having outgrown the app, and wanting an excuse to have fun, the young lady threw a TikTok graduation party complete with a shocking ceremony to keep her legendary status.

Example 3: Being too busy for Facebook, they graduated from social media. They exchanged phone numbers, and mentioned their frequent hangouts to friends. They had a few drinks to celebrate with coworkers on a lunch break.

Example 4: Due to factors of aging, but wanting to quit social media, we threw a social media graduation party for our grandmother instead. She was much happier this was, and loved ones were more understanding.

Social Media Stalker

A virtual contact, friend, colleague or passive connection that join all your social networks (Facebook, Myspace, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Digg, Stumbleupon and Google+) and comments, likes, plus one or shares all your posts regardless of rhyme or reason.

These individuals are every where you turn and tend to be individuals you have never met before. They formulate opinions based on everything in your life. They begin to live vicariously through you.

Be careful

My social media stalker has commented on my last ten Google + posts and the last 15 posts on Facebook.

anti-social media

n. Communication channels favoured by the aged, and those that don't want to be "part of the conversation".

.....................................................................................

Dude! You got to get on the Twitter! You can totally get fake updates from celebrities and find out what all your cool friends are wasting their lives doing in "real time"!

No thanks. I'm kind of into the anti-social media. I have some Dickens I want to read before I have my evening gruel. And is there some other type of "time"?

Social Media Ghost

Social Media Ghost is an Internet phenomenon that effects only a few people on social media, Internet forums, etc. Social Media Ghosts are people who are generally unnoticed online, thus generally unable to make friends or get replies/reactions to their posts, regardless of the content they post.

There doesn't appear to be a primal reason why some people are SMG, and others aren't.

Social Media Ghost isn’t contained to one website, but the entire Internet. Someone doesn’t have any followers or replies on one social media site or forum alone isn’t SMG.
Although much more rare, it seems to be possible for people who have friends offline to be SMG.

Social Media Sabotage

The publication of uneditable, unsubstantiated mis-information by highly irresponsible social media influencers and chaos-fueled alternative media outlets.

Hey, I just read a blog that said the whole city of Miami has been over-run by COVID-19 ZOMBIE CORPSES. I sent it to all of my Farcebook, Instacrap and Snatchchat friends...
There should be severe penalties for Social Media Sabotage that further threaten the security of our friends, family and nation. With any luck one of those zombies will chew off your texting-fingers...stupid ass wipe.

Windows Media Connect

Windows Media Connect itself is one of the most horribly engineered programs in existence today. It is imposible to get it to run correctly even if you follow the instructions TO THE LETTER. If by some act of God you have gotten this program to work flawlessly, you must be burned at the stake for being a Witch.

omg ALL i wanted was to SHARE my MEDIA!!
(puts gun to head)
Burn in HELL Windows Media Connect!
(BAM!)

Social Media Quarterback

“Social Media Quarterback” is a term created by former NFL player and current analyst Emmanuel Acho to describe Justin Herbert.

It means a quarterback who makes special jaw dropping throws that catches the eye of social media but doesn’t make the necessary plays needed to win the big games. Particularly throws in the earlier in the game rather than in the clutch.

Wow Justin Herbert threw a rocket! But to me he’s just a social media quarterback. He never. Shows up when it counts !
