rap

A genre of music. That's all it is. People are against rap saying it has no meaning. People defend rap saying that that's only "gangster rap". HERE'S A HELPFUL HINT, YOU TARDS. PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE RAP DON'T LIKE RAP. PEOPLE WHO LIKE RAP LIKE RAP. NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET OVER IT.

Some rap fans and some rap haters are complete idiots for being so elitist about MUSIC.

Rap

A form of music involving long, high-class poetry that is spoken out rapidly alongside a beat/rhytm or acapella. It is a genre of music that people like or dislike-- few in the middle. The form of music is often related to hip-hop and people mistake it as hip-hop. It may have been originated from the black race but is international now. People rap in all sorts of languages and people listen to rap INTERNATIONALLY!
This is the DEFINITION of rap, according to me.
It is unbelievable how people have written all this shit about rap. If you don't like the music-- THEN FUCK OFF! Don't go giving your definitions or "cRap". I haven't seen such great disrespect for neither "Pop", nor "Rock", nor "Country", nor "Punk", nor "Metal", nor "R&B", etc.
I won't speak for other genres of music if I don't know anything about them or if I don't like them. I would just give the definition-- NOT my opinion on them. Tell us WHAT rap IS. Don't say what you feel about it or what you think of it.

Some example of Rap Artists are:
Eminem, 50 Cent, 2pac, Dr. Dre, Flo Rida, Lil Wayne, Young Joc, T.I., Jay Z, N.W.A, G-Unit, Snoop Dogg, Lady Sovereign, Daddy Yankee, Xzibit, Missy Eliot, Eve, Lil Mama, Kanye West, and SO MANY MORE!!!

Rap

Something that the majority of the people posting negative comments on would be listening to if the genre consisted of more caucasian artists...Listen to hip-hop bitch...

face it, Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby sold very well when it was released. Was it a good song? nope. Did it steal a beat? yup. Did Vanilla Ice have the talent to continue his career? nope. And dont put it on the fact that he was a white artist struggling in a black man's world. Answer me this...why didn't the Beastie Boy's have any trouble keeping a career. 1, they maintained a white audience. 2, they had some rap skill; same goes for Eminem....I guarantee that if Eminem was black he would be regarded the same as 50 cent; a no talent MC despite the fact that he would be the far superior MC.

rap

A downtempo music genre branching off from electronic music. Today, rap is actually poorly put together. The bass is a monotonous sub bass with random patterning, basically it has no melody to it. The melody itself is literally something you can expect to see from someone that has owned a production program for a week. Its a poorly patterned, unadjusted synthline. The vocals are by far the worst part, there is no emphasizing, pitching stressing, or anything else that makes things sound good in music, just some tool saying things that he thinks are witty because its grade 1 poetry, just rhyming. It appeals to people who think the rapper is cool, or think they themselves are cool listening to how "cool" the rapper is. Also its been documented on a survey chart that out of every music genre, avid listeners of rap music have the lowest IQ while listeners to classical music have are a small percentage but at the top of IQ with the upper half of listeners of House and some other electronica. It has also been recorded on a poll on a music production forum that 94.3% of the registered users agree that most year-long amateur producers can make just as good music as the professional hip hop producers out there. I think that speaks for itself.

Next time you want to get at dance/rave/club music about 4 to the floor bassdrum educate yourself on how stupid you and your rap music are. Have fun feeling cool to music that doesn't even sound good, because that's what music is for.

rap

A genre of music. In it's original form some years ago it was a great form of expression through poetry and beats. However it has turned into a more pop oriented genre and become very generic.

Public Enemy, NWA, and other early rappers made actual music, unlike today's feild of rappers that include Lil Jon, 50 Cent, and Chingy.

rap

A genre of music that's been around since the 80's or so. Early artists (ones that i can remember anyway) include Tone Loc, MC Hammer, and Sir Mix-a-Lot (Baby Got Back...love that song. And Resonate.) Rap is, in fact, not shorthand for "crap". Rap is like any other genre... lyrical and musical stories of life and incidents occuring in life. Rap is also like any other genre in the fact that some artists have 3-to-4 minute long songs about absolutely fucking nothing. Any fuckface can make a beat and spit words out and "make a million by saying nothin on the track" (to quote Mims, i think that's who said that anyway), but it takes real fuckin talent to make a song that goes to the bitter core of your soul. I'll name 50 Cent, Eminem's earlier music, and Immortal Technique as a few artists that have songs that go to the core. Rap's no better or worse than rock, country, or blues... and to all you motherfuckers who love to bash on rap, try this on for size. I listen to rock, country, and rap..and when it comes down to it, suckass songs aside, and ways you present your story in musical form, it's all the same. Music is life... the genre you choose is just how you tell your story. So fuck off, haters- you don't have to listen to it, but don't bash people who do, cause you're just contradicting yourself.

Rap isn't crap. Listen to "Dance With The Devil" by Immortal Technique, you'll change your mind.

rap

The worst music genre ever created. Its immoral and is the root of the down fall of society today. Rap is all about yourself, how much money can I get, how many chicks can I violate, its rediculous.

Example of rap culture: Man i just bought $3000 worth of ice, but Africa is still starving.
