Super Mario Bros.

The Super Mario Series is a massively popular game series featuring the familiar red hatted character Mario. The series started WAY back in 1985, with the release of Super Mario Bros. on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). It was created by legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (b. 1952) alongside his development team Nintendo R&D4.
In this article we're mainly going to talk about the original game and its development.

Super Mario Bros. was a game released for arcades (yes, arcades search it up) and of course, the NES. By overthinking you would easily know the arcade version was to simply rack up more coins, because it's literally just the NES version but Mario turns yellow when he has a Fire Flower powerup.

Super Mario Bros. was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and his development team Nintendo R&D4. It was created as a "farewell" to the standard ROM cartridges and to usher into a new age.. of floppy disks. That was unexpected. Anyways, this game was created in conjunction with another popular series starter, The Legend of Zelda for the Famicom Disk System (and also the Famicom/NES). Development was culminated by the developer's previous games for the system like Excitebike and Kung-Fu (actually, a port of the arcade. LOL!). The game was designed to be simple, not because they wanted this to be a game for beginners, but rather because they wanted to sell the game by the end of 1985.

Ron: Should I buy Super Mario Galaxy?
Jon: I think it's best you don't.
Ron: Why?
Jon: You're really bad at gaming, I think you should play Super Mario Bros. on the NES first.
Ron: Oh.. okay!

Super-signalling

The act of signalling exclusivity or secrecy, even when there’s no substantial reason. It mimics in-group dynamics to create a heightened sense of importance, often leaving outsiders feeling excluded, even when the content is trivial.

Super-signalling can be thought of as a kind of unintentional gaslighting. The term comes from the 1938 play Gas Light, where a man drives his wife to the brink of insanity by gradually dimming the lights in their apartment while pretending that nothing has changed.

Super-signalling operates similarly, although more subtly. There’s really nothing there, yet our very human Fear Of Missing Out is triggered. While gaslighting is deliberate, super-signalling is often unconscious—those engaging in it are likely unaware of the (super) signals they’re transmitting.

The behaviour is rampant on social media. Vague status updates, cryptic tweets, or ‘stories’ that hint at something significant without revealing any details are the digital equivalent of those whispered huddles. They tap into our instinct to belong, leaving us wondering what we’ve missed.

The same is true for airy corporate slides with conspicuous stamps of saying “CONFIDENTIAL,” when it’s apparent that they contain little of substance.

Or scientific presentations where heavy smoke screens of technical jargon obscure the fact that the subject being studied is actually quite inconsequential.

As Gertrude Stein once quipped: “There’s no there there.”

super bowl

if eating were like making money (from commercials mostly, in this case), the NFL's "Super Bowl" (and other college "bowl" games), then the American football stadium "bowl" (as seen zoomed out), sure is "super" to those certain business people making all that money.

Would you rather have soup or bowl.. of MONEY! from the Super Bowl? I know our advertising department's got a superbowl to eat off of with that recent deal made.
