Balloon Boy Entrepreneur

A self-absorbed, fame-seeking person who will do anything other than get a real job. Inspired by reality show hopeful Richard Heene.

"The neighborhood association was opposed to David's plans to set up a music studio/amphitheater/sperm collection business in his home, calling him a 'balloon boy entrepreneur' who would do anything to avoid honest work."

Urban Social Entrepreneur

Urban Social Entrepreneur is a term coined by Mishael Israel the Founder & CEO of Urban Social Entrepreneurs in 2009.

It is an entrepreneur that comes from the streets of urban communities, sometimes called a HUSTLER, who takes his street hustling skills and combines it with mainstream business skills and becomes a success! He/She than decides to go back to the urban community with that same entrepreneur and business skill to solve some of the social and economic problems in the community utilizing non-profit and for profit ventures. The goal is to put profits back into the non-profit ventures to establish a sustainable social economy.

United Health Foundation is a non-profit that provides Aids services to urban communities. It owns a chain of pharmacies in the community. All of its profits go back into the non-profit so that it can continue its social mission of providing services to its community. This is a sustainable social enterprise that was started by an Urban Social Entrepreneur.

entrepreneur ethics

The moral underpinnings of being or becoming an entrepreneur include: 1. take care of your business, 2. so your business can take care of your family, 3. so your family can take care of you, 4. so you do not become a burden on your fellow human being or the state, 5. so you are in a position to help your fellow human being and 6. so they can help your business.

When you give a person a fishing rod instead of a fish, you have started him or her on the road to self reliance which is the sine qua non of entrepreneur ethics.
