Gringo

Term used by the Latin americans to refer to english speaking people, mostly United states citizens.

In Brazil, the term goes for any foreigner/person that is not from Brazil in general.

John was raised in the United States, so he is a gringo

Gringoed

For a group of friends to verbally abuse a newly met person for no apparent reason other than for fun.

A good gringoing can last for days if not weeks.

Please note this is not to be confused with being two faced, as this is for pure comedic reasons.

Also note after you have participated in a gringoing session a total lack of respect between the gringoed and the gringoing will ensure. Often leading to snigering upon the next meeting.

D.w: "I met a nice group of guys at a party today"
Guy 1:"d.w is a twat"
Guy 2: "what a bellend"
All guys: "what a prick"

2 days and loads of jokes later

Guys: "I can never look at d.w again with out laughing"
"Well gringoed boys"

Gringo

A Lot of people think it derived from Mexico but it's actually from Argentina and basically used to originally describe a foreigner

Friend 1-Ay look at that Gringo, he's from the US
Friend 2-He's obviously lost
Friend 1-It's his first time here in Mexico/Cuba/Africa/etc...
(Point being that the new guy is from somewhere else)

gringo

An offensive, derogatory term used to single out whites. Most of the time American but can be European. Rarely, if it all, is the term used to refer to a black person (who are normally called morenos), American Indian, Japanese, or any other racial/ethnic group.

It evolved from "Green, Go" to refer to the US soldiers wearing Green Coats during the Mexican-American War. Hispanics of Mexico (who are really just mestizos - Half Spanish/Half Amerindian - or confused American Indians) will try to justify using the term at all costs as it has not only a comedic effect but has become very much ingrained in their culture.

Mira a esa tipo, esa gringo. He thinks he's going to send us back to Mexico eh? F%ck Trump. F%ck White America.

gringo

For as long as I can remember the word gringo has been a derogatory slang word for Americans in Spanish / Portuguese speaking countries. Quote from Wikepedia " Various dictionaries classify gringo as "offensive slang," "usually disparaging," and "often disparaging."

While many say that Gringo is non-derogatory I believe it is and the reasoning for not calling Americans as such is that America is a continent? It is also a country. I would not call a Brazilian an American, as he would be called after his country. We Americans would also like to be called after our country!
