The Dibble Effect

Walking in on your girlfriend while she is blowing her step-daddy and him blowing his load on her face on Valentine's Day.

Jimmy: Hey how did Valentine's Day go?
Ruben: It was horrible, I had The Dibble Effect happen to me!
Jimmy: Oh wow, why would she do such a thing!

The Onision Effect

When a YouTuber in their 30s is exposed for (alleged) child grooming, causing their reputation to take a huge downward spiral and cement them one of the worst YouTubers ever.

Person 1: Oh my god. I honestly cannot believe what is going on right now, first it was Onision and now Colleen Ballinger/Miranda Sings of all people?!?!?!

Person 2: Wow, just wow. Oh, how the Onision Effect repeats itself (when will they ever learn)... -_-

captain effect

Similar to the cheerleader effect, the captain effect occurs when everyone in the group, male or female, is agreeably unattractive, EXCEPT for one individual. That individual is deemed the captain because he or she commands the outer attention of the group, AND is undoubtedly the best looking of the bunch. However, without his or her crew the captain is nothing.

Ex. If you have 4 girls in a group and all of them are the same, except 1 girl is noticeably taller and slimmer, who do you sleep with?

a. 1 of the 3. You have better chances.
b. The 1 exception. She's the captain.
c. All of the above. "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." –Aristotle
d. None of the above. You've got a computer at home.

"A captain without his crew plays with his ship, alone, by himself, in the middle of the sea, where plenty of fish do NOT exist."
–Creeper at the bar

Bro 1: You see that girl?
Bro 2: Which one? They're all ugly.
Bro 1: The good-looking one.
Bro 2: She only looks good because everyone else is way uglier than her. It's the captain effect.
Bro 1: Well, I'd still do her.
Bro 2: Well, that's because you have beer goggles.

the laney young effect

Aight, so let's kick it off with this wicked tale, fam. Once upon a time, there was this soul-sucking demon named Laney Young. Now, she wasn't your regular demon, nah. She was mad into boys, but every now and then, she'd switch it up and go after women too.

Laney was notorious, man. She didn't just snatch souls, she'd take their ego, well-being, and even their dignity. Ain't nothing left when she was done.

Now, let's talk about this one dude, Travis. He was just another notch on her belt, but after one night with Laney, homie was never the same. He turned all evil, started acting possessed and stuff.

Folks started calling it the 'Laney Young effect'. It was like she left a mark on him, changed him in ways no one could understand. Travis wasn't Travis no more, he was just another victim of Laney Young.

But you know what's really twisted? Even though everyone knew what she was capable of, they still got drawn to her. Like moths to a flame, man. That's the power Laney Young had. It's a cautionary tale, for sure. Always keep your guard up, 'cause you never know when a Laney Young might cross your path.

"Bro, I've been feeling crabby as hell recently"

"Dawg that's just the Laney Young Effect."

The 2020 Effect

The instinctual feeling that it is still 2020. Shared by many members of Gen Z, who feel like past events are closer than they actually are; as if it is still 2020. Probably spurred by the pandemic and isolation, but nobody really knows where it comes from.

Most years have a satisfying ending, where after Christmas and New Years you get to reset and to on to the next year. However, COVID didn't care about the holiday season, and the defining characteristic of 2020 was carried on into the following year. In a way, it felt like 2020 never really ended.

"RIP my man Harambe"
"Dude, that meme is like 4 years old."
"I think you mean almost 8 years old."
"wait..."
"that's the 2020 effect"
