A state of being. This can happen in both real life and via text message or IM. It occurs when someone says something to someone else (usually as a joke), and the person becomes really serious about the issue. They stay in this state for quite a while. They reply seriously whenever someone is talking to them.
Indicators of serious mode: Lowercase only in sentences, ending all sentences with periods, one word replies, lowercase "LOL's", slow replies, setting their status as "away" or "busy", signing out of IM, replying with swearing, ending questions with periods, low use of emoticons, using an ellipsis and more.
Phil: Hey what's up George I fucked your mom last night LOL
Bill: ...that's not fucking funny. the fuck do you want.
Phil: Why so serious?
*5 minutes later*
Bill: Brb

Originating from the Naruto series sage mode is used to increase strength defense and speed. However an alternate term for “sage mode” is when you only get 3 hours of sleep and wake up with more energy then you would a normal 7 hours of sleep, this would be a reference to how Naruto needs to remain still to gain nature energy to go into “sage mode”. Going “Sage Mode” can last for days on end, as the little sleep you get magically keeps you energized.
You: I went “sage mode” last night, didn’t get a wink of sleep yet I feel like I could run a Marathon

When two computers want to have sex with each other (and not catch a virus), they must enter safe mode before proceeding with the act. Otherwise, the computers could Blue Screen and completely mess up their hard drive.
(This definition applies only to computers running Windows. Mac/Linux users need not worry about safe mode before letting their computers have sex).
Press F8 while your computer is booting up to enter safe mode. Then do whatever you want with it (you sick bastard).

From the series Beast Wars. Reverting to Beast Mode was when either Predacons or Maximals transformed into their animals forms. In Beast Mode, they were usually able to move faster and transforming also sped up their internal repairs. Also, in the first season, reverting to Beast Mode protected them from Energon poisoning, which was what happened when they were exposed to too much raw energon.
