Jeepers

"Jeepers" is an idiom expressing suprise or frustration which was extrapalated from "Jeepers Creepers" an earlier euphamism "Jeepers Creepers" an alteration of Jesus Christ, that people used in place of profanity. Thought to be invented by comic strip writer Billy De Beck and futher popularised by Lois Armstrong in a Johnny Mercer song around 1938. The expression "Jeepers" came into popular usage in 1950s TV on the Dennis the Menace show and not as another writer stated Velma on Scoobie Doo, she used another alteranation "jinkies"
