Mid Western slang heavily used in North Western PA, & North East Ohio during the 1960's, and 70's for "flat sandal thong toed flip flops," or inexpensive plastic/rubber shower shoes of that time period,
Don't forget to grab your" tongs," kids, we might go to the beach
"dig yourself," 1970's slang idiom. Taken from; "dig, to dig" meaning to get a proper under standing, to get down to the truth of the matter. "Dig yourself," figure it out , work it out , get to the real, check yourself before you wreck yourself.

"Jeepers" is an idiom expressing suprise or frustration which was extrapalated from "Jeepers Creepers" an earlier euphamism "Jeepers Creepers" an alteration of Jesus Christ, that people used in place of profanity. Thought to be invented by comic strip writer Billy De Beck and futher popularised by Lois Armstrong in a Johnny Mercer song around 1938. The expression "Jeepers" came into popular usage in 1950s TV on the Dennis the Menace show and not as another writer stated Velma on Scoobie Doo, she used another alteranation "jinkies"
Jeepers Mr. Wilson did I do that?
before it was associated with any type of drug. Every one knew that "a crack," was corporal punishment doled out usually from a teacher or school principle at the end of a paddle or other type of manufactured board and applied to the misbehaving students posterior ( butt crack) this was well known slang (1960's-early 80's)
he's on the way to the principles office, and I bet he gets "a crack."
