The socially-constructed attitudes that men are expected to be: violent, unemotional, sexually aggressive, etc. It's harmful to men and it harms everyone else as a consequence through these actions.
Especially prominent in: locker rooms, with all the yelling, fighting, proving yourself, who's-dick-is-bigger atmosphere
and in fraternities, with all the making fun or or belting women, emotions, or being a decent human being, and judging men by how many girls they've had sex with, etc.
"God, did you hear about Joe hitting his girl because his friends were making fun of him for being emotional and sensitive when he's with her?"
"Yeah, that's just toxic masculinity. He's grown up taught that he's gotta be a certain way, and that acting otherwise or "acting like a girl" is bad. Murica."

A stupid politically correct term that tries to tell people that masculinity is a bad thing or even unhealthy and toxic.
There is no such thing as toxic masculinity. fuck societal terms. fuck political correctness.

A masculine urge(similar to feminine urge) is an urge to do something as a male(or if you indentify as a male).
The masculine urge to pull a will smith and punch that guy who stole all your bitches since you get none.

In contrast to some of the other idiotic definitions. Toxic Masculinity is the societal expectation that males are suppose to represent "manhood" which can cause them to become violent, aggressive, manipulative, unsympathetic, and unemotional. This mentality causes a lot of males to subconsciously see women as sex objects to dominate over instead of having a mutual relationship, which can cause rapes to happen. Toxic Masculinity also forces males to not show any emotions including crying or asking for help. This is why males are almost twice as likely commit suicide than females, all because they were told to "suck it up" or "be a man" throughout their entire life.
Anybody who says that toxic masculinity doesn't exist is only supporting this destructive mindset and is too afraid to speak up about what's really going on. So please SPEAK UP!!!

A phenomenon observed by sociologists, anthroplogists, feminists, etc., in which ideals attributed to hyper-masculinity/machismo culture cause detriment to society.
While it's understood that society's less advantaged (i.e., the disabled, the homeless, children, women, refugees, et al) incur significant hardship owing to toxic masculinity, its perpetuation also renders men themselves into a state of loneliness.
Expressions of toxic masculinity include "edgy" jokes (which oftentimes lack a punchline yet functionally devalue the joke's target) bullying (both cyber as well as IRL), "brutish" masculinity (counter to the much healthier *embracing* masculinity), misogyny, victim blaming, unsolicited sexualization, exploitation, violence, one-upping, the entire "incel" community, and much of the hostility demonstrated in gaming culture.
In other words, if a man is embodying the "class clown" stereotype as an adult, he's typically exhibiting masculinity of a more toxic nature.
Ultimately, wars are historically started by men (i.e., those in power), while the threat of women in power (e.g., Hilary Clinton, Kamala Harris) draws unapologetically misogynistic remarks.
Meanwhile, women can and do demonstrate and perpetuate toxic masculinity themselves. Observed exacerbation of the phenomenon of toxic masculinity may be attributed to increasing knowledge surrounding its existence or of society's progressive feminization (e.g., interconnectedness and openness to self-expression).
Pick-up artist culture oftentimes entails vocally degrading women, all while portraying/objectifying women as a material prize or achievement. It fails to acknowledge women as individuals whatsoever and in turn qualifies as an expression of toxic masculinity.

The rare but extremely valuable and effective natural occurence of unified male cooperation and groupthink, induced by the need of an individual male or group of males to overcome the irrational challenges posed by the females of the species.
the collective "man lie" when a bunch of buddies help a dude lie to a girlfriend about his whereabouts is a perfect example of Marxist Masculinism.

Feeling the need to own and drive an excessively large truck as part of your identity, but never having loads that require an engine of that size.
The narrative of righteous fossil democracy is crucial not only to American identity writ large, but to its hegemonic white masculinities, through the rosy nostalgia afforded by the petro-masculinity identity. (Daggett, 2018)
