French phenomenon

The belief that any behavior, saying or product from France must be the pinnacle of sophistication.

Also see euro-quality.

The French phenomenon:

Mary: "Oh, I just LOVE those Lacoste shoes!"

Sue: "Thanks! And your Louis Vuitton bag is to die for!"

Mary: "It would be great if everyone else was as ร  la mode and sophisticated as us. Well, enjoy your date with Mark tonight."

Sue: "Oh, I will. He has a certain je-ne-sais-quoi, you know?"

Batman Phenomenon

The idea that cencorship laws and restricting freedom of speech forces people underground. Creating censorship and imbalance in conversation forces people underground to operate "in the cover of night", just like Batman, fighting for what he believes is right, in which he battles with his own ethics and morals. The law (US law or country equiv.) Doesn't necessarily agree with Batman but understands why he operates in that way. Social media platforms are creating more and more batmans (who are moving to darker platforms). Which is creating a large social discourse bubbles as people who follow news which only represent their own ideals are becoming increasingly imbalanced by filtering out opposing thoughts and behaviours.

Twitter has perpetuated the Batman Phenomenon by forcing people to operate in the cover of night to push their own ideologies outside of the rules of the existing framework.
