Speed is a generic slang for the wide variety of stimulant drugs. Mostly methamphetamine.
It can also be used to refer to an extremely strong cup of espresso or coffee or a can of energy drink
Man A: i had such a hard time waking up tofay I had to drink a can of speed to get going

Generic term for any upper (“upper” being a generic term for any type of speed). Any drug that acts like an amphetamine. Archaic: Not so much a recreational drug as an occupational drug (a way to get through work so you can do some good drugs).
I could use some speed to keep from dozing off at my computer.
