Ironically, "Air America" has also been the name of the CIA's (Central Intelligence Agency) private airline since 1959.

America West operated in bankruptcy from 1991 to 1994. As part of its restructuring, the employee stock became worthless. America West is now part of US Airways and has at least 7 codeshare agreements with other airlines to stay in business.
