Montage Based Decision Making (MBDM)

The cognitive process by which an individual makes a decision based solely on the emotional gratification he or she received while viewing that decision played out in a montage movie style format. In this montage, the individual is the main character of a super epic story, in which they are better looking than they actually are. However, this montage has no connection whatsoever to reality and the end result is disastrous consequences, wasted time, and usually suicide before the age of 35.

Mick: Dude, I'm thinking of studying cinematography out West, I think I could be really good at it and I see myself in my head just killing it all the time and being dope.

Jack: dude, don't do that. That's Montage Based Decision Making (MBDM).
Mick: ye.

dead wife montage

A "dead wife montage" is a visual media device used to introduce a deceased or missing character, most frequently a dead wife. The character is heavily romanticised in the flashback-style clip compilation ("montage") of happy memories the deceased shared with the affected character in the present story. Through the flashback, the deceased person is often portrayed as an angelic, flawless and almost superhuman person who heavily influenced the affected character's life, who still struggles to deal with their passing/disappearance. The montage is often but not always accompanied by sad/sentimental music.

This stlye of flashback has drawn attention on social media in recent years, with many online comedians producing sketches which aim at making fun of the trope.

Montage

A Montage is a group video gift. It's a collection of video messages sent privately from a bunch of people who care about you, all strung together into one video compilation. People record videos based on prompts like, "Tell your favorite Jonny story," or "3 words that come to mind when you think of Jonny." It's a deeply personal and incredibly meaningful gift.

Montages are usually created as a surprise gift for someone's birthday, wedding, graduation, going away party, etc.

Lastly, it's a tradition for the recipient to send back a Montage Reaction Video afterwards telling everyone how they felt watching it. People often cry in these :)
