Expecting somebody to find and do something impossible.
The teenager commited suicide due to unmet unrealistic exectations by someone in his family. Unrealistic expectations are the kind where somebody is really never going to be good enough, even if they did something impossible, then they went on and did a thousand more impossible things.

When someone humbles tf outta you but you need to downplay the embarrassment.
When someone is being out of pocket and you have to reality check them.
P: I don't want to be intimate with Shrek, so weird of you to say.
C: Do I need to remind you that I've seen your tiktok?
P: That message was so humbling.
C: It wasn't meant to be humbling, it's just right-sizing expectations.
Many dating advice books, websites, columns, etc say that the main reason why some people struggle with dating is because of "unrealistic expectations" or as I like to call them "Ted Mosby Expectations". Ted Mosby is the name of one of the main characters on the long running successful sitcom, "How I Met Your Mother". He thinks most of the women he likes and dates are "the one" he will marry and have his children which is not the right mindset to have. It's hard to find the right person especially when you're a "nice guy" like him. Hence his expectations are unrealistic although I gotta say he is very persistent and many guys can relate to his experiences and "unrealistic expectations"
Dude you have "Ted Mosby Expectations" when it comes to dating; they are too high and unrealistic!

Not expecting disadvantaged people or minorities to meet the same standard of behaviour or achievement set for most people. It is called "soft bigotry" because it is a more subtle and subconscious form of prejudice.
"I will confront another form of bias: the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Several months ago I visited Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, where African-Americans confronted injustice and white Americans confronted their conscience. In 43 years, we have come so far in opening the doors of our schools. But today we have a challenge of our own. While all can enter our schools, many--too many, are not learning there.
There's a tremendous gap of achievement between rich and poor, white and minority. This, too, leaves a divided society.
And whatever the causes, the effect is discrimination.
My friend Phyllis Hunter (ph), of Houston, Texas, calls reading the new civil right. Equality in our country will remain a distant dream until every child, of every background, learns so that he or she may strive and rise in this world. No child in America should be segregated by low expectations, imprisoned by illiteracy, abandoned to frustration and the darkness of self-doubt."

A problem that plagued many adventure games in the computer gaming market during the 80's and early 90's, wherein the way in which one had to proceed was so ridiculously complicated and obtuse, you'd have to be psychic to know it on your own.
The game developers expected you to either be psychic, buy a guide book, or call one of their ridiculously priced tip lines to rack your parent's phone bill up the ass, just to get past one screen.
This is obviously no longer a problem in games today, given that the internet now makes it easy to find a walkthrough for pretty much any game.
Often results in frustrated pixelbitching
Person 1: "How's Simon the Sorcerer going dude?"
Person 2: "It's good, but some of the puzzles are ridiculous! One of them, I had to try and wear a dog, so that it would be magically transformed into a pair of Hush Puppies, to sneak past a guard. Good thing I found a walkthrough online, but talk about pre-millennial psychic expectancy!"
The event when Torkel gets drunk and releases something funny on Snapchat
Peter: "Torkel just blacked out from 10 beers"
Teodor: "Expected no less from Torkel"
