NAACP

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People: The Nation's oldest civil rights organization. From bold investigations of mob brutality, protests of mass murders, segregation and discrimination, to testimony before congressional committees on the vicious tactics used to bar African Americans from the ballot box, it was the talent and tenacity of NAACP members that saved lives and changed many negative aspects of American society.

After years of fighting segregation in public schools, under the leadership of Special Counsel Thurgood Marshall, the NAACP won one of its greatest legal victories in Brown vs. the Board of Education.

NAACP

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

An organization founded in 1909 dedicated to equality for black Americans. Famous for legal cases such as Brown vs. Board of Education in Kansas and for various protests against discrimination.

Now famous for leaders such as former president Kweisi Mfume, who supported Khalid Abdul Muhammad and for championing a lawsuit against gun manufacturers for causing the deaths of a disproportionate number of black citizens due to handguns.

Whatever happened to the NAACP?
