a buckie is a small muscle type shell fish . part of the whelk or cockle family. to be found on the rocks when the tide goes out. i dont know if the name originates from the town buckie . the coast around buckie is very rocky and buckies can be gathered in abundance.im from buckie myself so thank god buckfast has nothing to do with buckie. beautiful undiscovered coastal village in north east scotland . see buckie web page
