The word singlings is derived from the word single and siblings.
The word is most commonly used to define a person without a sibling -- A singling.
Go forth and lead the singlings (plural) and be their voice
People who are in a relationship, but have yet to announce it, are classed as facebook single. They can then enjoy the privileges of giving the appearance of being single (i.e. to flirt with people on a night out) whilst covertly being in a real-world relationship.

That inevitable picture one changes their profile to once they break up with their SO. There are took types. The really obvious "old selfie", which is normally the best photo the person took in the last 2-5 years, meant to show off that they are still hot (and single). Or the "new selfie" which is obviously taken quickly to replace a profile picture that features the person who they just broke up with.
"I didn't know Zack wasn't dating Mara anymore till I saw his single selfie. That picture is so old."

After considering yourself back on the market after a breakup and realizing that everyone you know that WAS single, is now in a commited relationship, except you.
