reveal the inner workings of a project or company to a prospective new partner.

Anytime Mr Johnson wanted to open the books and initiate a new member, he, alone, didn't need the others' approval.

Hook and book

A slang term from cops meaning arresting someone. Hook is handcuffing someone and book is booking them in jail.

Paul: I got pulled over for my 5th speeding ticket this morning.

Mike: Damn, Dude! I'm surprised the cop didn't hook and book you right there.

Paul: Man I wouldn't survive in prison.

booking the cooks

The process of visiting an Urban Dictionary page daily, rating your definition at 5, and everyone else's at 1, so that your definition appears on top.

Nobody else has a defintion for this, so I won't have to book the cooks this time.
