An abomination within the hip hop music. "Minimalist" barebone beats are accompanied by snapping to make the instrumentals. The lyrics usually have little substance to them. Being club music, it's spawned a dance that is done by nearly breaking your neck while snapping to the slow tempo.
Southern person: Snap music is so good!
East coast person: Please die...
The music, being bad enough, can never compare to the disturbingly horrific "snap dance"

Rock music is a form of music that is constantly evolving and has many different variants, though all rock music shares a few qualities,rock music is usually guitar driven with drums and bass providing the back-beat, and the singer providing the vocals, though instrumentals are quite common as well. Synthesizers,pianos and many other instruments are used as well but aren't considered staples of rock. The main genres of rock music are Metal,Punk,Blues,Hard rock,Soft rock and pop rock, which further divide into thousands of sub-genres. Rock originally became popular due to it's inherent rebelliousness and resistance to the Status Quo, though nowadays it is a mainstream form a music with many of it's most popular acts being controlled by companies and the mainstream.Rock is most likely the most important form of musical expression in the past 50 years, influencing social,political, and economical climates of all countries around the world.
Some of my favorite examples of rock music are Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, AC/DC,The Jimi Hendrix experience, Nirvana,Black Sabbath,The Red Hot Chili Peppers,The Sex Pistols, and Bad Religion

Also considered mini-movies or short films driven by a musical track. All genres from Hip-Hop to rock use music videos.
Man did you see that B-Real video "Los Angeles" by Director Hugo V? It was one of the best visually stunning hip-hop music videos I have ever seen!

1. A subject that 75% of "musicians" out there have never touched.
2. An excuse the ignorant make to put down artists that try to push the boundaries of contemporary music. All the while these same ignoramuses believe poor technique and slop equate with good music just because everybody else thinks so. These people also have never bothered to actually listen to the music they loathe so much.
3. A set of (flexible) rules that dictate the manner in which music functions.
In most introductory music theory courses, students learn about the intervallic structure of the major scale and how it is harmonized.

Someone who steals music. (downloads music without paying for it) Music pirates use various programs, such as limewire, kazaa, and others. These programs are designed to "share" files with other people. They're mostly used to download FREE music.
Person 1: "I just downloaded 50 songs from limewire!"
Person 2: "Wow! You are such a music pirate!"
