faith-baiting

1. To avoid responsibility for one's actions or deflect responsibility for another's actions by claiming religious persecution.

2. To advance a political agenda by claiming those opposed to it are engaging in religious persecution.

1. Joe Doe was fired from his popular reality show for engaging in inappropriate conduct with a staffer. Senator John Roe talks about his strong faith-based values and suggests Joe is being persecuted because of his faith, thereby engaging in faith-baiting.

2. Presidential candidate Robert Jones spoke at a rally stating that his constituents inability to impose their religious beliefs on others constituted the start of religious persecution, thereby engaging in faith-baiting.

Bait crate

When you chug an entire bottle of something really fast but you don’t finish it.

Johnny: I was at my buddy’s function last night and to excite the festivities, I decided to do a bait crate. It was scary cause I almost nearly blacked out that night.

trout bait

(v.) Cop a feel, grope.

Fully expecting to be slapped, Jimmy slugged a shot, walked up to Susan and trout baited her. Surprisingly, she did not seem to mind. "Is that all you got, walleye?" she giggled, "I was expecting a man!"

fanboy baiting

A phrase with two meanings:

1) When the writer(s) of a geek franchise introduce backstory, characters, rules, lists of information, and other continuity details that are intentionally vague, contradictory, and unresolved. The intent is to provoke fan wank and other arguments while always having the carrot of "this issue, we find THIS out!" to dangle in front of fans. Mainstream superhero comics run almost exclusively on this.

2) When a blogger or other editorial writer does an in-depth analysis of a creative work radically counter to the assumptions of its fanbase in order to provoke outrage and fan wank. Usual tactics include "over-analyzing" fantastical elements (e.g. "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex"), unflattering interpretations of the themes, and otherwise presenting valid arguments why the story does not logically work.

1) Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura's introduction of a dozen vague, unresolved plot points and refusal to clarify anything is classic fanboy baiting.

2) I wrote a fanboy-bait article explaining why Usagi of Sailor Moon is a terrible role-model. I bet I'll have a hundred pissed-off comments by tonight.

frau bait

A combination of "frau", which is German for "Mrs." or "woman" and the word "bait", in the sense of tempting someone, the contemporary meaning of "frau bait" is two-fold:
1) a good-looking, almost pretty, young man who appeals to (often older) women
2) soft, sensitive, romantic or non-macho qualities, gestures or abilities displayed by a male, which are stereotypically thought to be appealing to women

1) With those lovely long blond locks, the band members were all frau bait. Did you hear all the screaming in the audience?

2) If you want to score with her, bring her a single red rose. That's always total frau bait.
