The highway between Alaska and Canada.
It was 2,700 kilometers long when it was built in 1942. Recent reconstruction has shortened the highway to 2,232km.
I've flown a few times in the past, but I've also taken the AlCan highway up one other time.

The Alaska Highway, which connects British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska.
Nowadays the Alcan presents a true challenge to the traveler as the road surface is "variable" to say the least.
