CASO

Acronym for โ€œCordon And Search Operationโ€, often used by military and law enforcement agencies. The operation typically involves blocking, or โ€œcordoningโ€ off a specific area where a criminal is believed to be, and then thoroughly searching that area. In recent past, the term has been used to describe operations in Kashmir (India/Pakistan) when there is believed to be a terrorist(s) or millitant(s) hiding or trapped in a certain area.

After an attack at the bus station, the terrorists hid in the local neighborhood. Counter-terrorism and police forces launched a CASO for the area within a half mile of the attack.
