Cheugy

The opposite of trendy. Stylish in middle school and high school but no longer in style. Used when someone still follows these out of date trends. This may include but not be limited to fashion, habits on social media, usage of slang, etc.

My friend told me to change out of my favorite pair of Miss Me jeans because they were cheugy.

Cheugy

Another way to describe aesthetics/people/experiences that are basic. It was coined by a now 23 year old white woman in 2013 while a student at Beverly Hills High School, on whom the irony is apparently lost. According to the New York Times, "cheugy (pronounced chew-gee) can be used, broadly, to describe someone who is out of date or trying too hard."

Person 1: Did you read that article in the New York Times about cheugy? It was pretty cheugy!

Person 2: Yah, they keep trying to make cheugy happen.

Person 1: Don't worry, it's not going to happen.

Cheugy

A very specific kind of not-being-trendy: usually refers to things a person wore in their pre-teen or teen years, and is considered out of style and kind of lame.
It has shifted to describe the kind of fashion that was present in the early 2010's: apparently skinny jeans scarred an entire generation of kids, because no one wants to be caught dead wearing them now.
It also apparently refers to the zillennials/millennials and their weird fashion sense, with their stupid clothes that date back to 8-10 years ago. Also thrifting is more popular than ever, so that is another reason why cheugy outfits seem to be everywhere.

Sarah: Why are you still wearing those old ass skinny jeans they're so cheugy
Martha: I'm not throwing away a nice pair of jeans that have lasted me years, who cares

Cheugy

Have you been in a coma since 2011 and were in love with Nickelodeon and wished that one day you would have enough money to furnish your own place with your mountains of Target signs and useless crap, do you also dress like a middle school English teacher, you’re cheugy.

Have you seen Miranda, the girl with the oversized necklace and denim dress, she’s so cheugy.

Cheugy

Fake word made be millennials in order to complain about Gen Z. This is the equivalent to how boomers would make outlandish articles about β€œsneaky teen text code” about millennial text acronyms. After years of suffering under a barrage of outlandish boomer headlines, millennials have become the monsters that they have despised and are finding reasons to be pressed over nothing. The word Cheugy is not used to describe things that could appear cheugy, but instead only ever used in the context of complaining about Gen Z.

β€œGen Z has come up with a new word β€˜cheugy’ to make fun of millennials”
