Cisgenderfication

The act of forcing a trans or nonbinary character to be identified as their assigned birth sex. The term cisgenderfication is primarily used in a joking manner in the LGBTQ+ community commonly referring to when characters are changed to appeal to the general masses of mainly cis straight people, in fear of losing the audience with the character’s atypical characteristics.

“Omg the way they changed Allison in The Breakfast Club! It was not in their character at all to have a makeover, it’s so forced!”
“Yeah! The cisgenderfication of their character turned them from They/Them to She/Her.”
