Ecclesiastes

A book in the Bible written by a philosopher who could not understand God's plan. Trapped in his own thoughts he came to the conclusion that life is useless and what we do is useless. "Generations come and go but the world stays the same. The sun still rises in the east, and sets in the west. All the rivers flow to the sea, only to be swept up and start the dreary process all over again. It is useless I say useless." - Ecclesiastes.

Ecclesiastes was a pessimist who had everything he ever wanted but still felt depressed and useless.

ecclesiastical apartheid

The view that African American churches attempt to prevent women from achieving status in the church higher than men. Also, includes the interpretation of the Bible to have women serve subservient roles in relationships with men.

Used frequently during BET's Hip Hop vs. America II part two while speaking of misogyny in our current black culture.

Due to the ecclesiastical apartheid in my mom's church she can't seem to become a pastor even though she has a theology degree.

ecclesiastical spanking

The pope's public rebuke of the illicit and schismatic consecrations constituted an ecclesiastical spanking.

The bishop issued an ecclesiastical spanking by condemning the heterodox ideology espoused by the members of the parish.
