Ethereal creatures, a hobot will appear & spam you with a personal message & can just as quickly disappear, though they often return with a new name and siren song, often leading noobz to malware. Sometimes hobots will be automated & others are from hobot 'farms' where operators drive the hobot conversation.

Programs that send out messages on social networking sites pretending to be sexy girls interested in meeting you, fooling many pathetic losers into thinking they are real and forcing them to click on their profiles, only to have their dreams crushed when they find out these hobots do not really exist.
