Lost In Translation

1)When something is translated into another language, and sometimes translated back into the original language, and because of differences of the languages some of the original meaning is lost.

2)Whenever someone re-does something in a new medium (for instance, a movie based on a book) and, due to differances between the mediums, some details and the original meaning is not present.

3)A movie that came out in 2003.

1)See larstait's post for a good example.

2)"Did you like the new Harry Potter movie?" asked Maria. "No," answered Sharon. "They couldn't include all the details that were in the book because then the movie would be too long. A lot of the characterization and subext was lost in translation."

3)I really liked Lost in Translation. And if you didn't, your opinion can't possibly be worth anything, you must be an idiot or a philistine. No, I didn't just imagine the subtext, it's there and it's very moving!

Lost In Translation

An incredibly written and directed movie with brilliant acting that, unfortunately, some Philistines can't appreciate.

Lost In Translation is one of the most moving films ever made.

Lost In Translation

A movie staring Bill Murray that wanna be bohemian's adopt as inspirational/moving/deep (pick any exagerated state of greatness).
The best part of the movie is where a Japanese "escort" asks the character played by Bill to "lip my stalkings" in a very strong engrish accent.

Some people have a low self esteem. One way they can feel better is by choosing the movie "Lost in Translation" as their favorite and ridiculing those who see it for its true value.

Lost in Translation

An amazing film written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray.

It's about two people who are visiting Japan and who feel lost in life. Their chance meeting leads to a touching and intimate friendship and the film follows their attemts to find themselves in a strangely familiar and beautiful yet alien and bewildering environment.

The film is shot beautifully and the music combines with amazing shots of Tokyo to produce an incredibly moving film.

"Magical, funny, truly soulful, classically timeless... an absolute must see" - Uncut

"Phenomenal... film of the year!" - Arena
