The U.S. wasn't sure what to do with the Dakota Territory, so they split it into two sections. Cold, and colder. (South Dakota, North Dakota) North Dakota has now become the U.S.'s storage cabinet for Nuclear Missiles. Other than that, It's flat.
Unintelligient being: "Why don't we sell North Dakota to Canada or something?"
Other American: "That's where we keep all our Nukes."
SO...become one with Mother North Dakota, eh? C:

Would have dominated world politics had it seceded from the United States during the Cold War because of it's highly concentrated amount of nuclear weapons in such a small area.
Russian Official in Moscow informing his peers: Comrades, North Dakota has seceded from the United States. We must establish political connections and negotiate an embassy in Bismark. If they side with Mother Russia, surely the United States will fall.

Is actually a pretty decent place to live. North Dakota has an interesting history, great culture scene, sports galore, and plenty of fun things to do.
From it's larger cities (Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks) you can enjoy the most options for big city fun. Fargo is the most cosmopolitan city in the state with a booming downtown area. Bismarck is fun for those people who love the outdoors. if you're a sports fan, head to Grand Forks where the world renowned Ralph Englastad Arena is home to the University of North Dakota hockey team, the Fighting Sioux.
The North Dakota badlands (yes, North Dakota has badlands too) also has plenty of fun activities. Medora, the gateway city to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the badlands, has pitchfork fondu, a musical every night of the summer in an outdoor amphitheatre, and a beautiful golf course.
Sure the weather can get cold in the winter( I mean pretty cold, like some days highs in the negatives) but the summers are awesome. Highs for the state are usually in the 80's and 90's during the summer with the occasional 100 degree day. Fall and Spring are pretty short.
North Dakota is a great place to live if you're a college student, young family, rich entrepreneur, or even a retired couple. It's a great place to call home.
North Dakota is actually pretty cool

North Dakota is a great state. Sure it maybe cold mostly all year round, and it snowed today in dickensin with low visiblity when it is June6. But I hate when people give harsh judgements to ND. There is great things here. You'll always find really nice people. No one ever judges you. You dont have to worry as much as every other state does. There is very little crime here. Dont gota worry about getting kidnapped or getting shot by walking down a street. There isnt bad traffic, its a state where you can actually breathe clean air.
North Dakota isnt a state with a bunch of hicks. We are just like every one else. We like everything that everyone else likes. The only difference we got from all the other states is that we dont have; big cities, snotty people, and not a big population.
North Dakota is a very easy state to live in.
