1. The blank leaves added at the end of a thin publication so as to form a volume with sufficient thickness to be rounded and backed and/or to be lettered on the spine. Unfortunately, the paper used for this purpose is usually of an inferior quality, and becomes embrittled and transfers its acidity to the leaves of the publication. A method of securing ruled, printed or blank leaves by the application of a padding compound, and sometimes a cloth or other reinforcing liner, to one edge (frequently the top) of the sheets which have been jogged even on the binding edge and placed under pressure. The act of driving around late at night with your friends and sticking menstrual pads onto signs, cars, and mailboxes, usually whilst stoned. There are three people usually: The driver who is in charge of pulling up close to the object and turning off the headlights, the passenger, who gets out and sticks the pad to the object, and the person in the backseat who unwraps the pads.

To be "On the pad" means that someone, usually in law enforcement or other position of authority, regularly takes bribes.
Detective Dolan was kicked off the force because he had been on the pad to local wiseguys for years.
