The approximate day, each year, when health insurance deductibles have been met, and patients can get medical treatment for drastically less out of pocket expenses. During this time of year, hospitals see a large increase in business, as surgeries, mri's and other large medical procedures are then scheduled as more patients meet their deductible. On Red Thursday, the blood begins to flow as the surgeons begin to cut. It derives from the term Black Friday, but in a medical context.
That ER visit met my deductible so today is my Red Thursday. I'm going to get that MRI I've been putting off, those injections in my knee, these moles removed, and that surgery to fix that disk in my back.
