The politically correct word for waiter/ waitress, which is a very high stress job that usually pays under $3 and hour. Commonly confused by people who assume server can also mean; servant, maid, lesser being, jester, water bearer, slave, and sometimes even a dog. That is a common misconception.

Manager of Chili's- What's wrong?
Sever- Fucking table 22 thinks I'm here to wait on them hand and foot and asks for 1 new thing every time i pass their table instead of all at once when I ask them if they need anything else. 33 thinks for some odd reason their 2 year old should be allowed to pour out all the sugar and then draw on it. 1. A program which provides some service to other (client) programs. The connection between client and server is normally by means of message passing, often over a network, and uses some protocol to encode the client's requests and the server's responses. The server may run continuously (as a daemon), waiting for requests to arrive or it may be invoked by some higher level daemon which controls a number of specific servers (inetd on Unix). There are many servers associated with the Internet, such as those for Network File System, Network Information Service (NIS), Domain Name System (DNS), FTP, news, finger, Network Time Protocol. On Unix, a long list can be found in /etc/services or in the NIS database "services". See client-server.
2. A computer which provides some service for other computers connected to it via a network. The most common example is a file server which has a local disk and services requests from remote clients to read and write files on that disk, often using Sun's Network File System (NFS) protocol or Novell Netware on IBM PCs.
All information accessible via the Internet is stored on one of several different types of a server.

"Server" has many implication and definitions, once such definition is that of a game server which is a piece of hardware that allows for an instance of a game to be running. A server comes in many forms, some of which are dedication and ran as an individual piece of hardware, usually not having any displaying device and only utilising software to maximise the servers performance. Servers can also be ran by individuals that are not dedicated, these servers usually run parallel with a systems normal functions and hence generally are not very stable and do not provide insane amounts of stability for those connected. These servers are usually volatile and cease to run once power to the system has been relinquished.
You can also ask someone where a server is by simple putting their name and then the word server afterwards. You can also use other words to ask for a server such as "sulfur?" "server her" "Sir Vir?"
