An expression of disbelief, shock, and utter surprise. Often heard after witnessing an incredible feet, or something that is downright amazing. However, it can also be used in the negative, when one encounters bad luck.
When Dad saw the skier land the two flips, he turned to me and said, "Shit a monkey, did you see that?!"
Or:
Dad muttered 'shit a monkey' when he saw that the tire had been punctured.

A shit-flinging-monkey (simular to a douche pelican) refers to a person who is complaining/ mooching/ or just being an ass hole. Shit in this case is a metaphor for the stupid things this person is complaining or bitching about. "Flinging their shit at everyone".
However you can like a shit-fliging-monkey. I have one as a friend he is very nice and cute like a monkey but every once in a while he flings his shit like a rabid monkey.
"So i talked to him today and he was acting like such a shit-fliging-monkey."

When a person is going through a bad time personally, such as a nasty divorce, and other people pick up on that subconsciously and don't want to be near them. Sad, but true. But it will eventually end once all the shit is off of you.
Man dude, I know you're going through a nasty divorce right now and no one wants to be around you. You're a Shit Covered Monkey and they're afraid that shit is going fly off you and get on them. You gotta wait until all the shit is off you.
