Tea-aboo

Term designating a non-English person obsessed with English pop-culture and society.

Tea-aboos are typically extremely obsessed with English works (especially those created by Steven Moffat) such as Dr. Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter, Monty Python and Steampunk. In addition they are obsessed with other aspects of English culture such as the Victorian Era, Royal Family gossip, Banksy, etc. They only listen to British music, with their obvious favorites being Queen and The Beatles.

Tea-aboos tend to overdress for every occasion and wear anachronistic clothing such as a top hat or a pocket watch. They are almost always social outcasts to some degree (depending on their tea-aboo level) and generally live in well-educated and affluent areas of the United States such as the San Francisco Bay Area.

Usually have very passionate but uninformed opinions on all matters of British politics, especially Brexit and the NHS, and believe that all aspects of British culture are superior, despite having no experience with the UK outside of media portrayals. They use the British spellings and pronounciations for no reason other than to be a giant fuck.

While not all aspects of the Tea-aboo can be fully covered in this definition, one last important trait of note is their use of constant use of English slang in an attempt to normalize it and make their usage popular outside of the UK (Tea-aboos particularly love using slang such as saying "Bloody Hell" and "Sod it/off").

Fineas is a massive Tea-aboo- he never shuts about David Tennant and he keeps trying to get me to watch Torchwood with him.

tea-aboo

A person who retains an unhealthy obsession with the U.K. and British culture, typically ignoring or even shunning their own cultural identity. Many tea-aboos talk in butchered British accents. While tea-aboos claim to love and support Birtish culture, counter intuitively, they tend to stereotype British culture by how it appears in their favorite shows and movies, which can be safely assumed to be offensive to the British.

He had one of those stupid Harry Potter lanyards, he must be a disgusting tea-aboo.
