Piggybacking other peoples traumatic experiences. Constantly triggered by events that have nothing to do with them.

Karen is struggling, the BLM protests remind her of 9/11. Karen wasn’t at 9/11 she just watched it on TV but she’s a traumavore so it’s a tough day for her.

Traumavore

A (white) person who feeds off of the traumatic stories of marginalized/racialized individuals, working them into a digestive system that converts guilt and empathy into an unearned catharsis.

Karen: It must be hard for you sometimes hey?

BIPOC: I mean, yeah sure, sometimes. I don't dwell on these things
Karen: But tell me, what's the worst thing you've experienced? You must have some stories.

BIPOC: well yeah, I've gone through my share of racist abuse, but I don't want to go through them again just so a Traumavore can walk away with my story and not help do anything about it.

Karen: Aw shit, I guess I'll go ask another brown person for my next hit of Trauma.
