John: Sweet! You could use Rob when he slipped and fell on his head.

compile

A trance like study technique that can be done without looking at the studying materials. Going over and re-enforcing facts and equations in your head. Bassicly an excuse to study and be lazy in the process.

Me: Naw, I'm set.. I'll just sit here and compile for a bit.

compiler

In sports, a very good player who plays long enough that, by the end of his career, he's accumulated great career stats. But he never really stood out, he was never really dominant, and there was never a time when he was the best player at his position. He's got some great career totals, though, so he might get into the Hall of Fame.

Son: Dad, I saw Eddie Murray's career totals yesterday on ESPN. He was a great player, huh?
Dad: Nah, he was a very good player who played long enough that he was able to pile up great career numbers. That's why he's in the Hall of Fame. But there was never a time during his career when I watched him and thought, "Wow, that Eddie Murray's a special player." In the sports world, he's called a compiler. Nothing personal.
